Albert Thomas Station letter carrier Marketa Scott earns new revenue for USPS

Marketa Scott had just received an inquiry from her customer about our Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) program, when Business Development Specialist (BDS), Sonya Mackey, was making a station visit.  Scott, a letter carrier at Houston-Albert Thomas station, shared the information with Ms. Mackey and was able to assist a local school with our EDDM program. This brought thousands of dollars in new revenue.  in the photo above, (A) Manager Joyce Y. Powell recognizes Marketa Scott, with a Delivering The Brand certificate.  Way to Go, Marketa Scott!

Julius Melcher letter carrier Veronica Williams upsells EDDM to earn postal revenue

It is great to see that even new letter carriers are learning the importance of relaying information when a customer asks about some of our services. When a hair salon owner asked City Carrier Assistant Veronica Williams about our advertising program, she gave the customer a Customer Connect lead card. Business Development Specialist (BDS), Pamela Hatchett-Finley contacted the salon owner and got them involved with the EDDM program. This lead generate a thousands for the Postal Service. Williams accepts a Delivering the Brand certificate from Acting Station Manager Patrick Keys for her support. Well done Veronica!

Lora Lavalais and Willie Taylor receive 25-year service certificates

It’s all smiles for two North Houston P&DC employees, who received their 25-year service certificates. Accepting their certificates are Mail Processor Lora Lavalais and Mailhandler Willie Taylor as Manager Distribution Operations Sherrell Smith made the presentation.

Transportation Clerk Rita Hawkins accepts 30-year service certificate

For more than 30 years, North Houston P&DC Highway Transportation Clerk Rita Hawkins has kept a number of drivers, both contractual and postal on the right road, picking up and delivering mail at facilities throughout the Houston District. Roberta McClain receives a 45-year service award

In 1971, if you drove a Ford Mustang, or Cougar, a Chevrolet Chevelle, a Buick 442 Cutlass or a Dodge Challenger/Barracuda, you had one of the coolest cars of the year. It was the same year that Roberta McClain, a North Houston P&DC Tour 3 Mail Processor joined the Postal Service. Ronald Silhan recognized with his 40-year service certificate

Electronic Technician Ronald Silhan has seen a major transformation in mail-processing equipment at the North Houston P&DC. When he began working for the Postal Service in 1976, the Letter Sorting Machine was on its way out and the Optical Character Readers were arriving by the truckloads. Fast-forward to 40 years later, he is now maintaining Delivery Bar Code Sorters. In the photo, Silhan accepts his 40-year service certificate from Maintenance Manager William Gilbert.

Lee Morris receives her 30-year service award

The table of contents of TIME’s 1986 “What America Does Best” special issue starts with a list of a few of those things. First on that list, naturally, is a sandwich. It was that same year that Lee Morris joined the U.S. Postal Service as a Mail Handler. Thirty years later, she accepted a 30-year service certificate from Manager of Distribution Operations Victor Almendarez, left, and (A) Manager Distribution Operations Michael Phillips.

Eddie Mayes earns 40-year milestone

In 1976, the Bee Gees had a hit song called, “You Should Be Dancing,” and that’s what most people were doing at the disco. In that same year, Eddie Mayes joined the Postal Service as a Mail Handler. Recently, at a small ceremony, Senior Manager Distribution Operations Cedric Houston, left, presented Mayes with a 40-year service certificate.
